Camp Registration for 2025 will open on November 16th!
What is SOMA Camp?
SOMA Camp is an annual retreat to learn about wild mushrooms, sponsored by the Sonoma County Mycological Association. The Sonoma County Mycological Association (SOMA) is a non-profit group of professional and amateur mushroom enthusiasts in Northern California dedicated to educating the public about wild mushrooms and their uses.
The camp, a benefit for the SOMA Scholarship fund, is packed with mushroom forays, specimen tables, slide shows, and top-notch speakers.
Nestled in acres of oak, madrone, tan oak, redwood, and Doug-fir near Occidental, California, we will move breezily from class to woods to dining feasts, enjoying it all. There is so much to take in!

Lodging is in shared, heated, upscale cabins with hardwood floors, designer bunks and personal cubbyholes. There are six bunks per cabin, although all beds are usually not filled. The cabins are bright, clean, and airy. The shared restrooms and showers are, in most cases, a short walk from the cabins. Elders are lodged close to the restroom facilities. Vehicles may be parked near the cabins.
Off-site lodging options are also available nearby.
Please note that CYO does not allow pets -- no dogs, no cats, not even if you keep them in your vehicle or RV or camper.
Also the CYO is a peanut-free facility. Please don't bring any peanut products onto the grounds or into the cabins.
Children under 12 are not allowed to attend Camp.
