Marthine Satris
Marthine Satris (say: MarTEENah SATriss) is the acquisitions editor at Heyday, the Berkeley-based nonprofit independent publisher of books about California's natural world, history, and diverse cultures. Working as an editor in the Bay Area for the last 10 years, she's had experience with cookbooks, academic monographs, field guides, literary fiction and nonfiction, and books that can't be assigned to any one genre. As a kid growing up in Bolinas, she stomped on a lot of puffballs, but only last fall found her first king bolete, right in her mother's backyard. It was delicious.
